The present invention relates to an apparatus for analyzing a heart rate variability, and a method for detecting a heart rate variability using the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for analyzing a heart rate variability comprises a converter, an R-peak detection unit, a frequency conversion unit, and a heart rate variability analysis unit. The converter converts an analog electrocardiogram signal into a digital electrocardiogram signal. The R-peak detection unit receives the digital electrocardiogram signal to detect an R-peak value, and generates an RR interval time series signal on the basis of the R-peak value. The frequency conversion unit includes a frequency shifting unit, a low pass filter, and a fast Fourier transformation unit. The frequency shifting unit generates an object frequency signal by extracting a signal of an object frequency band from the RR interval time series signal. The heart rate variability analysis unit generates a heart rate variability signal on the basis of the object frequency signal. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a frequency region of a heart rate variability can be precisely analyzed.
