An exercise in formalising teleological case-based reasoning

This paper studies legal case-based reasoning in terms of values instead of factual resemblances. A method is presented for expressing value considerations in the framework of Prakken and Sartor [8] and for using them to explain decisions in precedents, to compare conflicting precedents, and to argue about the relevance of factual differences.
