Extraction of Follow-ups Using Surface Clues

There are many kinds of relations between relevant newspaper articles. However, most of previous studies have not focused on types of relations between relevant articles. For example, follow-up relation is one of the important relations between relevant articles. In this paper, we propose a method of extracting follow-ups using surface expressions in an opening paragraph. We examine the proposed method and the precision and recall are 85% and 80%, respectively.
