摘要

Process oriented heavy machinery requires a clearly structured, functional oriented design. Mechatronization is seen as a means to achieve that goal particularly under the condition of an extended automation. For the conceptual design of such systems functional decomposition is a well fitted method which aims at a hierarchical structure of functions which are technically realised by mechatronic modules. Computer Assistance should advise the design team to do its work in a systematic manner, to get an automatic documentation, and to assist the further detail design. The role of a so called essential mathematical model in conceptual design and its relation to the design process is discussed. The implementation of these concepts in high level rather standard software is briefly reported.
