PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability in the case of inputting a graphic element beyond a view frame in a computer-aided design(CAD) equipped with a view function. ;SOLUTION: A circumscribing rectangular of a graphic element (henceforth a 'new graphic') inputted to a view frame is obtained (S11) and it is decided whether or not the circumscribing rectangular of the new graphic is incorporated in the view frame (henceforth an 'input view frame') to which the new graphic is inputted (S12). Then, if the circumscribing rectangular of the new graphic is not incorporated in the input view frame, the circumscribing rectangular of a sum area of the input view frame and circumscribing rectangular of the new graphic is obtained (S13). Later, it is decided whether the circumscribing rectangular of the sum area is superimposed upon other view frames or not (S14); if the circumscribing rectangular of the sum area is not superimposed upon the other view frames, expansion processing is executed with the views (S15 to S17). Also, instead of the expansion processing of the view frame, a display magnification of the graphic element may be changed so that all the graphic elements are displayed within the input view frame.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
