Abstract: The Raman and IR spectra of the C-X stretching modes (X $EQ Cl, Br, I) in the axial and the equatorial positions of cyclohexyl halides and 4-chloro-oxacyclohexane have been measured at room temperature. The mechanism and the differences in the rate of vibrational dephasing of the axial and the equatorial conformers has been discussed. !18
