摘要

Modernization of engineering education is a societal challenge. Innovation and entrepreneurship are called to be engines to enable this modernization. The Energy for Smart Cities master programme by EIT InnoEnergy has developed an innovative methodology that introduces real-life challenges by companies, start-ups and municipalities in engineering education. This Challenge-based Learning methodology is designed along three week courses, each with a different objective, covering: innovation, business case, and entrepreneurship proposal. This methodology has been successfully implemented in the Innovation Journey in Energy for Smart Cities for the academic year 2015-2016 and is having a next edition in 2016-2017. Results and lessons learned from the first edition of the Innovation Journey are the win-win situations enabled for both students and companies, resulting in internships, master thesis and job proposals but also creating entrepreneurship initiatives among students.
