Innovation in most technology driven organizations is commonly entrenched in the creation of a new product or design, from an engineering aspect or software standpoint. Innovation should be the basis of key integration within an organizations culture and business strategy where the organization looks for new ways of doing things across the spectrum. High yielding innovative company's around the globe in fact spend a lot less than their competitors in R&D but consistently outperform their competitors. [1] Some examples are Toyota which spends far less than GM or Ford. Apple Computers as compared to IBM and HP.
