Aimed at the problems of elderly travel behavior research in China, a structural equation model was built based from 407 elderly travel questionnaire surveys and 54 follow-up interviews in Kunming in September 2013. The model considers the personal and family attributes of the sample as the exogenous latent variables, and trip purpose, departure time, trip mode, and travel intensity as the endogenous latent variables. The relevance between the attributes and travel behavior and the relevance among the travel behavior parameters are analyzed through modeling and calculating the relationship among elderly travel behavior characteristic parameters. We concluded that the differences in personal attributes and in family attributes produce no significant impact on the travel behavior of the urban elderly. Also, elderly travel behavior is closely related to their activity characteristics, the activities that have an effect on travel mode, and travel intensity. Finally, there is a significant correlation among urban elderly travel behavior characteristic variables, and the relevance also existed between departure time and travel mode as well as travel mode and travel intensity.
