We are all products of our culture and society. They influence what we value, what we believe, what we feel and how we behave. However, they can also cause friction, disputes, and divisions. As the world becomes more connected, people of different cultural and societal backgrounds are living and working together, where these differences are sometimes a source of conflict. In difficult high-stress environments, such as an oil platform or even an airport, cultural and societal factors can influence the escalation of conflict between people. Frazer-Nash has been conducting novel research into how different cultural and societal aspects affect human behaviour in conflict situations, with the aim of providing industry with an informed cultural awareness training template.
