The HIL (Hardware-In-the-Loop)-simulator is a very effective tool to develop and evaluate the control subsystems such as ESC (Electric Stability Control), CDC (Continuous Damping Control), etc, for an intelligent vehicle system. Especially for evaluation of the control subsystems, a real-time vehicle dynamics model is the most important element of HIL-simulator, since it must predict actual vehicle motion. The real-time multibody vehicle dynamics model has been developed using the subsystem synthesis method. In order to investigate applicability of the developed real-time multibody vehicle model to a HIL-simulator, first the real-time multibody vehicle model has been validated with proving ground tests. Then this model has been implanted into the HIL-simulator constructed in KATECH (Korea Automotive Technology Institute). Sine-with-dwell simulations have been carried out to evaluate the ESC intelligent chassis controller.
