Immunostimulatory Cationic Liposomes as Adjuvants in a Novel TB Vaccine

Immunostimulatory liposomes composed of dimethyldiotadecylammonium bromide (DDA), N-[l-(2,3-dioleoyloxy)propyl]-N,N,N-trimethyl ammonium chloride (DOTAP), [N-(N',N'-dimethylaminoethane)-carbonyl] cholesterol (DC-Choi) or N,N-dioleyl-N,N-dimethylammonium chloride (DODA), in combination with trehalose 6,6'-dibehenate (TDB) were characterized both with and without the candidate tuberculosis (TB) vaccine antigen Ag85B-ESAT-6 (HI). The biodistribution in mice of the vaccines was studied over a 14 day period using a duel-radiolabeling method.
