VISUAL AND INSTRUCTIONAL ENHANCED EJECTION AND BAILOUT VIRTUAL REALITY PARACHUTE SIMULATION TRAINING

Since aircrew ejection and bailoutemergency parachuting can occur in direcircumstances with no opportunity for actualtraining jump experiences, it is particularly criticalto maximize the scope and face validity ofpotential training experiences to accustom traineesto as broad and realistic situations as possible. Theurgency of this training has been accelerated bythe stresses of aging aircraft deployed in severeenvironmental and combat situations.Recent new developments in graphics scenedisplay hardware and software have beenemployed to provide more detailed and accuratescene depiction. Enthusiastic adoption by andinteraction with both a large aircrew emergencyand airborne paratroop training communities hassuggested a number of improved instructortraining controls. These visual improvements aredescribed in this paper, together withdevelopments in user-driven improved simulatortraining techniques and instructor interface.
