SUMMATIVE EVALUATION OF DETERMINANT FACTORSFOR EFFECTIVE ONLINE INSTRUCTION:AN EMPIRICAL STUDY

摘要

This study provides a summative evaluation of determinant factors for effective onlineinstruction. It assesses the effects of student demographics, learning environments, learningdomains, delivery methods, and web-based instructional technology on performance andsatisfaction of students. Overall, students tend to agree that they had learned sufficientprerequisite knowledge in an online course to follow other courses in their curriculum. Thisstudy identifies perceived effects of some determinant factors such as face-to-facecommunication, instant feedback, and proximity on performance of students. Findings of thisstudy also indicates significant differences in perception/satisfaction on learning process andlearning outcome between students who will take future online course and who will not. Personalexperience from each online course may affect the future preference of a student. Empiricalfindings of this study would help understanding the expectations of online students andconsequently designing effective online course deliveries to assist their successful learning.
