The competitive technical and business success of the FPL lauderdale station repowering

The Florida Power & Light (FPL) Lauderdale plant has been repowered using four Westinghouse 501F combustion turbines. In this project, Steam Turbines #4 & #5 were refurbished and each existing steam generator replaced with two 160 MW CT's exhausting into new heat recovery steam generators (HRSG's). The plant was commissioned in 1993, and represents the latest state-of-the-art in repowering technology.
