摘要

A great research project sponsored by the State Planning Commission of China has been conducted since 1991 to reduce the severe rail side wear on heavy haul railways in China. Investigations, modeling and field dynamics test have shown that unproper curve parameters (too high superelevation and reversed rail cant), poor construction quality, unsatisfactory locomotives and vehicles, undeveloped maintenance and lubrication etc. are among the main causes. The influences of parameters of the vehicle/track system on rail side wear and its unevenness have been analyzed. A comprehensive rectification of track parameters has been applied to long term test sections on revenue curves and reduced the rail side wear rate by 65-90%. The other measures to improve vehicle and track quality are proposed.
