Disabled people such as those with whole body paralysis and aphasia due to ALS,myasthenia gravis, and cerebral apoplexy have diffculty in communicating by limb and mouth.Although many alternative communication systems for disabled people have been developed, theyusually use the function of remaining limbs or eye contact. The contact type of alternative eyecommunication systems is burdensome for the user. A nursing support system in which disabledpeople can easily indicate their intention is needed. In the present study, to assist the smoothcommunication between disabled people and the nurses, we developed a remote nursing supportsystem by combining a real-time eye tracking system and LAN network based on the client-servermodel. In this system, communication is possible by using a non-contact type alternative eyeoperatedinput device. The care giver can reply to the patient's demands even if the care giver isaway from the patient.
