Dampness in bags, lump formation and increase in colour are the general problems of stored sugar bags almost in all the Indian Sugar Factories. So huge amount of sugar bags comes in process from sugar godown for re-processing which increased cost of production. White sugar is hygroscopic and it must be stored in dry and cool condition. But even then bagging sugar below 40 Deg C is not possible for any length of Hoppers after first week of February. Nowadays fully automatic centrifugal machines are used for separating molasses from sugar crystals of massecuite, however sugar from centrifugals contains enough energy to dry itself without further energy addition. So hot air is not needed and using cooler air also reduces the need of Drier/Hopper area to cool the sugar after drying. Fluidised bed drier with chiller is best answer for it by which moisture is continually removed, condensation is avoided during storage and temperature of bagging sugar remain well below 40 Deg. C.
