Tacit knowledge is the secret of maintaining a competitive advantage for an organization. Because tacit knowledge is deeply embedded in individual actions and experiences which make it hard to communicate or share with others, and hard to manage, but tacit knowledge is shared and transferred through informal networks. To solve this problem, we turn to accessing and managing informal networks of an organization to achieve management of tacit knowledge. In this paper, we have a systematic discussion on informal networks, including the different roles of strong ties and weak ties, and then a four-step spiral of managing informal networks is given, creating a well-designed "Ba" is supposed to be an important action in this spiral.
