The effects of Lactobacillus Peptidoglycan(PG) on the immune function were studied. Results shown that the PMΦ phagocytic ratio, phagocytic index and serum lysozyme activity 57.97 ±2.67%, 1.54 ±0.23 and 20. 43 ±2. 96U/mL in PG group were significantly higher than 32.40 ±3.92%, 0.63 ±0.12 and 9.88 ±2.09U/mL in control group, respectively. YC - Rosette forming ratio 76.20 ±4.77% in PG injection were significantly higher than 29.51% ±3.72% in control, indicating that the C_3b receptors of PMΦ were activated by injection of PG. PG can improve humoral immunity. Cells culture in vitro also shown that PG has the ability to stimulate PMΦ nitric oxide production and splenocytes proliferation.
