There are numerous electronic loads connected to ac grid which requires dc supply for which rectifiers are used. Now this depreciates the power factor at the ac side. In order to improve power factor boost type or buck-boost type PFC (Power Factor Correction) converters are used. This paper proposes a new buck-boost type PFC based converter with one cycle current controller (OCCC). OCCC with voltage loop is a novel controller for controlling the line current and make it follow the input voltage improving the power factor of the system. The main feature is the topology of buck-boost type PFC which is similar to non-inverting buck-boost converter with modified bridge rectifier and the control strategy ensures low THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) of input line current.
