摘要

This paper describes a method to calculate losses of motors with the consideration of the skin effect and excess loss in the electrical steel sheets applied to the stator and rotor cores. The 3-D finite element analysis is carried out to calculate the eddy current loss of the core with the consideration of the skin effect along the axial direction within the electrical steel sheet. The excess loss, which is caused by the effect of the grains in the electrical steel sheet, is estimated by modifying the conductivity used in the eddy current loss calculation with the coefficient determined by the experimental characteristics of the steel sheet. The hysteresis loss is also calculated with the consideration of the skin effect. The proposed method is applied to a synchronous permanent magnet motor driven at high-speed. It is clarified that the method is effective for the accurate iron loss estimation of high-speed motors.
