Internal combustion engines exhaust gases are largely contributing to the emissions ofrngreenhouse gases (GHG). This phenomenon is mainly due to the presence of CO2 in the exhaustrngases. The fossil fuel reserves are unevenly spread in the world and the availability of those isrnlimited. Biomass alternative fuels are sustainable and their effect on the environment, from thernCO2 emissions point of view is neuter. The feedstock, represented by biomass absorbs CO2 and,rnduring the combustion this quantity is released into atmosphere.rnThis paper highlights the compatibility of alternative fuels with classic compression ignitedrnengines. From the multitude of choices it was opted for the second generation of bio-fuels,rnrepresented by algae oil and Biomass To Liquid (BtL) fuel. This generation of bio-fuels isrnhighlighted by the fact that the feedstock used does not compete with the food industry and thernfuel production technology is using the hole feedstock mass.
