Abstract: This paper presents the classification of fuzzy dynamic systems and fuzzy linguistic controllers (FLC) into standard types (TYPE 1 through TYPE 7). The need, utility value, and the logic behind this classification are given. The proposed classification is the result of studying many known examples of FLC applications. The impact of this classification to new designs and to the improved performance of classical and modern control systems is an important consideration.!21
