Large-scale enterprises are comprised of multiple organizations that work together to provide goods and/or services. However, there is a lack of empirical research documenting how these organizations are integrated and how this integration impacts enterprise performance. In the case of healthcare enterprises, patients often require a number of services that span multiple departments and programs within the enterprise, increasing the complexity of maintaining a continuum of care for patients. This presentation presents a framework of enterprise integration based on observations of psychological health-related organizations at multiple hospital systems. These lessons are a part of a larger effort to examine psychological healthcare in the U.S. Military Health System. The presentation provides a framework for planning, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of integrated work mechanisms.
