摘要

One of the debatable issues in programming courses forrncore Computer Science (CS) and Information Technologyrn(IT) education is on how to improve the assessment sornthat it will reflect student’s programming skills. Thisrnresearch will focus on this issue by proposing a newrnmodel to support the assessment of programming courses,rnspecifically in object-oriented programming. The modelrnwill be developed by identifying object oriented conceptsrnthat student’s have applied in their program source codernusing object oriented metrics. Metrics are an importantrntechnique in quantifying desirable software and softwarerndevelopment characteristics of object oriented softwarerndevelopment. Currently, metrics proposed for OOrnsoftware development have rarely been used to supportrnassessment process. This paper will investigate thernsuitable object-oriented metrics to be applied in thernprocess of developing the assessment model for objectorientedrnprogramming courses. We give an overview onrnthe object-oriented metrics and the necessary steps on thernapplications of metrics towards development of thernassessment model.
