The presented excerpts from the design of a mobile lunar base - MOONWALKER - are based on extensive research and co-operation within the fields of space travel and outer space technologies, sociology and psychology. The challenge lies in creating long-term habitable space for unknown users with varying requirements in an environment that has not yet been thoroughly researched. The combination of various aspects of perception and the creation of space leads to a flexible yet stable concept in which the focus lies on the interaction between the changing contexts of the design components.rnNot all open questions will be clarified at the time MOONWALKER lands on the lunar surface. More likely, MOONWALKER will clarify many questions itself. Thus we need a flexible but stable concept that permits the evaluation on the lunar surface and their lasting implementation and technological space is perceived in a dynamic flexible way. Taking the only constant - the unpredictability, the adaptability - into account is a substantial factor, because Humans and Space are in constant reciprocal interaction. The interplay of the various concept and design levels is a prerequisite for such a complex design task if it is to be sustainable.
