Pressed forming Shadow Mask type Flat CRTs like Samsung SDI's Dynaflat bear a great deal of merits compared with the tension type CRTs, but have no choice but to be put at disadvantage in terms of shock resistance due to their structure. Shock resistance of CRT is mostly determined by shadow mask curvature. However, it is difficult to know exactly what impact the deformation of shadow mask curvature has on shock resistance of CRT and how badly it affects the shock resistance of CRT even though severe deformation occurs in shadow mask curvature in manufacturing process. In light of the current situation, this paper is dedicated to providing optimum design direction through CAE Simulation in order to improve shock resistance of Pressed Forming Shadow Mask type CRTs. Furthermore, it introduces what impact optimization of S/M curvature changes and design changes of material parts have on shock resistance of CRTs.
