Images of plant leaves are studied in the current paper, as a way to make recognition and classification of the plant species. First of all, the images are processed before extracting the shape features of the leaves. The leaves are then classified using the SVM (Support Vector Machine). After that, the SVM model's parameters are optimized using the PSO algorithm (Particle Swarm Optimization), which is also applied to design and optimize the classification algorithm as well as to make recognition and classification of the leaves. Finally, the Matlab simulation results prove that our method is valid.
