Study on a New Absorption Material

The sound absorption material is a type of very useful material for controlling noise and vibration. So it will be much valuable to find or invent new material with higher sound absorption coefficient. Several suggestions about composing materials and internal sound cavities for confecting new sound absorption composite materials were present firstly. Then, a new type of material was designed according to these suggestions. Its acoustic properties were measured in lab and were compared with that of the old material used in ships. The results show the new materials properties are better. Influence of the high pressure (from 0.1Mpa to 6MPa) on the sound absorption coefficients of the new material was investigated deeply, which showed the new material also has good acoustic performance.
