In China, though listening has been paid more attention to, listening teaching in senior high schools,especially those in areas is still at a low stage. The methods and results of listening teaching are not satisfiedyet. To find out those problems which impede the improvement of English listening teaching in senior highschools in rural areas and propose effective countermeasures to tackle them, the author of this thesis analyzesnot only teaching troubles the teachers confronted in their teaching practices but also listening problems therural senior high school students have when they are learning.
