The present invention provides a method for determining a spectrum and for recognizing a change in distance between a spectrometer device (10) and a measurement object (1) when generating the spectrum, comprising setting (S1) a first reception wavelength for a light from the measurement object (1); detecting (S2) the light with the first reception wavelength over a first measuring time (t1) at the beginning of the determination of the spectrum; determining (S3) the spectrum of the light from the measurement object (1); setting (S4) a second reception wavelength for the light from the measurement object (1); detecting (S5) the light with the second reception wavelength over a second measuring time (t2) at the end of the determination of the spectrum; and a comparison (S6) of the first measurement signal (M1) and the second measurement signal (M2), the change in distance between the spectrometer device (10) and the measurement object in the case of a significant difference between the first measurement signal (M1) and the second measurement signal (M2) (1) is recognized.
