The present application provides a telephoto photographing method and an electronic device. The method can be applied to electronic devices having digital zooming and telephoto photographing capabilities, such as a tablet computer and a watch. In a telephoto photographing process, according to the method, two framing pictures are displayed at the same time, an original framing picture in the case of "5×" is displayed by means of an auxiliary framing window, a framing picture obtained after a user adjusts the magnification "50×" is displayed in an image preview display area, and the preview picture having two different fields of view is provided for the user. The user can display the original framing picture in the case of "5×" according to the auxiliary framing window in the telephoto photographing process, so that the main body of a photographing target can be found more easily, and the telephoto photographing experience is improved.
