The present invention relates to a home appliance which allows a reception space provided therein to be seen from the outside through a viewing window without opening a door. The home appliance according to the present invention includes a door equipped with a viewing window and, when a user knocks on the door, processes a vibration detection signal corresponding to vibration caused by the user's knock, so as to accurately determine whether the knock causes the vibration. Moreover, when the vibration caused by the knock is detected, the interior of the reception space is illuminated so that the interior of the reception space can be seen from the outside through the viewing window. Therefore, the user can see the inner reception space by a simple operation even without opening the door.
