FIELD: mining.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mining and can be used for longwall mining of an ore formation. Particularly, a longwall mining system is proposed, comprising: a scraper conveyor; a shearer configured to move along the longwall scraper conveyor in a first direction or a second direction. Moreover, the cleaning combine comprises the casing of the cleaning combine, the first cutting drum passing in the first direction from the casing of the cleaning combine, and the second cutting drum passing in the second direction from the casing of the cleaning combine. The system additionally comprises a first chamber configured to generate a first signal associated with the first direction of movement for the shearer, a second chamber configured to generate a second signal associated with the second direction of movement for the shearer, and a controller comprising a permanent machine-readable storage medium and a processor. The controller therein comprises computer-implementable commands stored on a machine-readable storage medium for controlling operation of the longwall mining system configured to receive a first signal from a first chamber, to receive a second signal from a second chamber, to analyse said signals to identify the longwall mining system structure contours in front of the shearer in either direction, to generate a front-facing mining profile based on one or several contours, and to control the longwall mining system based on the front-facing mining profile.;EFFECT: technical result is ensured retaining of the horizon in a longwall mining system with a possibility of efficient ore extraction.;22 cl, 11 dwg
