Disclosed carrageenan-based compositions containing carrageenan, starch, plasticizers, water, and optional buffers, where carrageenan has a potassium content of less than 4% by weight and to produce capsules in a pressure-free rotary die device. It has both constituent viscosities. Films and capsules can be formed from carrageenan-based compositions.
