The disclosure provides for the continued neutral operation of vehicles. A computer-implemented procedure involves determining a connection state of a first attempted connection between a mobile device comprising a telephone-as-key (PaaK) control and a first Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) module of a target vehicle. On the basis of the connection status, the mobile device shall select a relay vehicle associated with the PAAK control and the target vehicle,from the relay vehicle includes a second BLE module. The mobile device may establish a second connection between the mobile device and a second BLE module of the relay vehicle and transmit a power mode instruction via the second connection between the mobile device and the second BLE installed in the relay vehicle to the target vehicle. The second connection allows the second BLE module to transmit the power mode instruction to the target vehicle and the power mode instruction allows the target vehicle to perform a key switching process.
