Laser armor to protect an object (10) from laser weapons with an armor element (2) which consists of armor steel and is designed as a ballistically effective armor plate, characterized by a cooling system (3) for dissipating heat introduced into the armor element (2) by the laser weapons and a sensor system that detects the laser radiation with light-sensitive sensors for activating the cooling system (3).
