PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the excavation work efficiency of a tunnel.SOLUTION: A pit face K of a tunnel T is excavated in a state that a tip of a crusher 2 of a transportation device 1 is separated from the pit face K by an evacuation length Ls. Then, a primary belt conveyor 3a of a telescopic belt conveyor 3 is made to advance toward the pit face K up to a position in which the tip of the crusher 2 is separated from the pit face K by a work space length Lw. Then, muck around the pit face K is crushed by the crusher 2, and after that, and conveyed to a pit mouth by the telescopic belt conveyor 3, a tale piece bogie 35, and a drawing belt conveyor 40. Next, after a finish of the conveyance of the muck by the telescopic belt conveyor 3, the primary belt conveyor 3a is made to retreat up to a position in which the tip of the crusher 2 is separated from the pit face K by an evacuation length Ls for the preparation of succeeding excavation. Simultaneously, the secondary belt conveyor 3b is made to advance toward the pit face K.
