DMCMD Railway (New railway compatible with existing railway infrastructure)

A railway sleeper or bearer comprises a hole through its depth to facilitate fixing of the sleeper to a pavement such as an asphalt, concrete or polyurethane ballast pavement. A void in the sleeper or bearer may be filled with epoxy resin or a polymer grout and a structural dowel that may be a stainless steel bar. A structural rubber or elastomeric annulus may be fitted into the hole. Also discloses is a machine for installing the sleeper or bearer and software for railway pavement design.
