8911. Climpson, L. M. April 17. Ironing. - Relates to the invention described in Specification No. 4248, A.D. 1893. A stove, Figs. 1, 2, and 3, for steaming lace, velvet, chiffon, and the like fabrics, and for heating flatirons &c. is, as in the invention described in the previous Specification, fitted at the top with a cloth B which is damped by being mounted on a roller in a trough b. Over the cloth is fitted a screen C of reticulated or perforated metal or other material to protect the fabric from the damp cloth. The stove may be fitted with a slitted shelf or partition a1 to receive the flat irons D in an inverted position, and the top of the stove may be fitted with bars a2 on which the flat-irons rest for being heated when, as shown in Fig. 3, the cloth and screen are removed. A hook or claw having a heat-insulating handle may be used to withdraw the irons.
