Sawing.-The plain or toothed disk of highspeed rotating-disk machine for severing metal is mounted in a saddle c, which is provided with overhanging strips e, so that it may slide on the flanges f of an overhead support or supports d, carried by uprights t, i, which are connected to a base-plate, bed, &c. The saddle is connected by a bar n to the carriage of an electric motor r, which slides on guides p, and the travel is given by mechanical means or by an hydraulic ram g, the water entering the cylinder h by pipes j, k and being controlled by hand-operated valves l. The guides may be horizontal or inclined, and the support t may be removed so that the work u may be inserted either from the end or side.
