13,308. Lavaggi, H. June 9. Lubricating.-An excess or deficiency of lubricant in the crank chamber of a motor road vehicle is indicated by one or the other of two electric lamps, which have globes of different colour. In lieu of, or in addition. to, the lamps, electric bells' may be employed. Fig. 1 shows a general arrangement of the apparatus. A vessel A is connected with the crank chamber B by a pipe C and is fitted with a float E, which is guided by a vertical rod F. This rod is connected by a wire j and push-switch Q with a battery K. The float is fitted with two contacts G, H corresponding to low and high level contacts L, M. The latter are connected by wires l, m with the lamps N, 0 respectively. The movements of the float E completes the circuit through one or the other of the pairs of contacts G, L and H, M, and by pressing the switch Q one or the other of the lamps shows a light. A push-switch R, which switches both lamps on and off at the same time, is provided for testing whether the battery is sufficiently charged, The pipe C is fitted with a cock D having two or more ways; the handle D' is within reach of the driver.
