摘要
19,701. Dubs, E. Sept. 5, 1905, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Signals, time-alarm. - Consists of an electric switching arrangement for clocks by means of which electric bells, lamps, ventilators, relays, &c. can at a predetermined hour be switched on for a given time, the invention being described in connexion with an alarm system for hotels &c. One contactpiece 4 is carried by a pin 3 pivoted at the end of a revolving arm 2, which is carried by a sleeve driven from the hour-hand arbor by gearing 15 to rotate once in twenty-four hours. The contact 4 has two lips 4a, 4b adapted to engage with contact-plugs 11 placed in two series of holes 12 formed in the dial plate 8 at points outside but concentric with the ordinary dial, the angular travel of the arm between two adjacent holes, one in each series, corresponding to an interval of twenty minutes. An insulated plate 7 at the back of the dial carries spring loops 121 which keep the contact-pins in place, while the spring 5 presses the contact 4 against the pins, its action being limited by a stop 6. The duration of the contact and therefore of the alarm can be varied by adjusting the position of the clock-work and arm 2 relatively to the dial by means of screws 9. To ring an alarm in any room, the plug 11 is placed in the corresponding hole in the dial and a second plug connected to the first by a flexible conductor in the socket 14 which is connected to the room in question, the current passing thence through the battery and clock-work to the contact 4.
