5 7 4 5 . Bloxom, A. G., [Winand, P.]. March 9. Reducing-valves.-Relates to engines such as those used for propelling submarine ships. A reducing- valve 0 is acted upon on one side by the variable reduced pressure RP and by a spring or weight, and on the other by a standard pressure SP. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the standard pressure is varied by a speed governor S, which controls the liquid supply to the engine, acting upon a pressurereducing device R. Fig. 2 shows the reducing-valve attached to a floating lever H connected to the governor rod S and the variable-pressure piston K. Fig. 3 shows differential valves respectively con trolled by the governor rod S and the difference between the pressure SP and RP.
