Improvements in Erasing Tips, or Combined Erasing Tips and Point Protectors, for Pencils.

Erasers ; pencil pointprotectors.-In an erasing- tip for pencils, the erasive material is made in the form of a ball A, and is partly enclosed in a socket B of corresponding shape and size, and slightly more than hemispherical so as to permit of the ball A rotating stiffly therein when in use, thus promoting even wear of the rubber. The socket B is made of sheet metal in jaw like halves ; or, as shown in Fig. 4, from a single blank of sheet metal, the junction being at b2 and the shank b1, b1 being preferahly slightly tapered. The socket B fits removably into a sleeve C, Fig. 2, which may be made to pass over either end of the pencil P to act as a point-protector.
