22,495. Hipkiss, E. Oct. 23. Pressure - gauges.-In instruments measuring pressure by the displacement of a flexible diaphragm controlled by a spring, the leather or like diaphragm is arranged in a domed recess to which the fluid under pressure has access, and is held by a head piece D. A plunger rod F, with a button-shaped base, bears against the upper surface of the diaphragm, and is connected to the spindle H of the pointer through a lever G and a bell-crank lever G'. The pressure beneath the diaphragm raises the rod F against the pressure of a spring E'. In a modification, the rod and the levers are replaced by a rack gearing with a pinion operating the pointer spindle. [Reference has been directed under Section 7 of Patents &c.
