Pendulum governors; transmitting-mechanism.-A pendulum 27 is hung from an adjustable plate 21 pivoted on the deck or a bulkhead of a ship, a guard 30 preventing excessive swing of the pendulum. When the ship's stern rises, the pendulum closes, through a push-button 20, an electric circuit containing a motor 12, which then closes the throttle - valve 1, through the spring-constrained lever 7 and links 5. The spring normally holds the throttle-valve open. The spring may be dispensed with, if the motor is reversible, or if two motors which rotate in opposite directions are used. If possible, the lever 7 is mounted direct on the throttle-valve.
