Crape effects, producing.-Relates to apparatus in which fabric 2 is ruffled by reciprocating blades 9 as it is passed with a paper cover 3 between a heated roller 5 and a pressing metal web 6, and consists in passing strips 14 of cardboard or metal at intervals between the paper and fabric webs. These strips suspend the effective operation of the ruffling-blades and so cause the production of plain bands on the fabric. The strips may be fed between the webs by chains 13 and may be formed with designs in relief on the surfaces which contact with the fabric for the production of corresponding designs on the fabric.
