Distilling zinc &c. - In condensing metal v a p o u r s by passage through narrow slots, as described in Specification 7953/13, the drops of metal are caused to fall into a chamber 2 arranged in the furnace. The slots are formed between carbon plates 4 held in metal frames 3 and are covered by a baffle - plate 6. The whole is enclosed by a box 7 having openings 8 for the escape of carbon monoxide, which may be burnt above the box.
